12th Avenue Courtyard North After completing the Miami Produce Center structure I turned my attention to the structure on the north side of the courtyard. In this case you are looking at the backside of a structure with all of the requisite loading dock doors, trash dumpsters, conduits running down the wall etc.
Here are some aerials of the prototype.
I started by constructing the the structure core out of .060" styrene and Rix siding.
Next, Tom Klimoski was generous enough to go to the site and produce a series of straight on photos of the structure face. On this particular day the lighting was perfect and Tom produced a series of perfectly exposed shots such as the one above.
I selected four or five of Tom's photos, and through some aggressive photo editing created the composite above.
With the composite photo complete, I essentially "wallpapered" the photo over the styrene core. The roll up doors were cut out and set back. I had some overhead roof shots I took on a structure locally and 'wallpapered' those on the roof.
Finally, stand off details were added to create a 3D appearance.
Here's another view of the completed structure. |
